After leaving our berth at Mercury Yacht Haven we head down stream, passing Hamble and Warsash Villages their marinas & yacht clubs to the entrance of Southampton Water where depending on conditions and tide we will either cross the Solent passing the infamous Bramble Bank (https://onthewight.com/about/bramble-bank/) and head in the direction of the stunning Cowes on the Isle of Wight (https://www.visitisleofwight.co.uk/explore/towns/cowes), alternatively we will travel up Southampton Water to spy on the city from the water, watching out for Ocean Liners, and hearing about the history of amazing sights like the Chapel of the former Royal Victoria Military hospital at Netley (https://www.hants.gov.uk/thingstodo/countryparks/rvcp/things-to-do/chapel) Then catch your breath once more as you return up the idyllic Hamble River and cruise back to our home berth.
We aim to leave disabilities on the shore and offer our participants the chance to share laughter with families and carers. 'Blue Health' from proximity to water, getting out on rivers and the sea, promotes renewed self-belief and is associated with many positive measures of physical and mental wellbeing, from higher levels of vitamin D to better social relations. https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20221108-the-doctors-prescribing-blue-therapy
