Welcome to Peter Carden
Wetwheels is delighted to welcome Peter Carden to our team as Operations Director.
Peter joins Wetwheels after a successful 42 year career as a warfare officer in The Royal Navy. His experience adds to that of Neil Wilson who will be leading on our funding and development work as we grow the fleet. Neil has successfully led us over the last 18 months with our Trustee Board, providing this platform for the future.
This growth has seen us secure 3 new boats over the past 3 years, despite the headwinds of the pandemic. We now have Wetwheels South-West supported by Sport England, Wetwheels Edinburgh arriving in the Spring and the latest Torbay in Spring 2024.
This is all in response to the growing demand to access high quality barrier-free experiences that only Wetwheels can provide, as set out by our Founder Geoff Holt MBE DL:
“The sensory overload of being on the water for the first time, an unimaginable new world of sights, sounds, smells and sensations, for many of our participants it is visible in their reactions. No matter how difficult it may ordinarily be for our disabled participants, particularly those with the most profound and complex disabilities, to articulate their feelings. You can see it in their faces onboard Wetwheels.”
As this new stage of our journey begins, if you would like to get involved either by supporting us or volunteering, please do get in touch.
Andy Fell, Chair of Trustees, Wetwheels Foundation.
