Wetwheels Yorkshire joins forces with 'Wild Eye'

Wild Eye is an exciting art and nature programme celebrating Scarborough’s incredible wildlife and coastal environment. Local communities, leading artists, businesses, and scientists are working together to create a series of events, artworks, and experiences that connect people with the natural world and support positive action for nature. 

In conjunction with Wetwheels Yorkshire's long standing partners, the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, our disabled participants have witnessed some incredible sights this Summer including bottlenose dolphins, minke whales, white beaked dolphins, harbour porpoise, common dolphin, grey seals, common seals, puffins, gannets, razorbills, guillemots, skuas, eider ducks and many more. We even had the pleasure of sharing the sea with some humpback whales in late August. To be able to witness these animals in their natural habitat is a privilege - to enable someone else to witness them who otherwise wouldn't have the opportunity is beyond words.... 

One key feature of the project was the acquisition of a state of the art hydrophone which means that even our participants with visual impairments can share the joy of dolphins by listening to their chatter!
