WETWHEELS CYMRU: BRINGING BARRIER-FREE BOATING TO WALES
For too long, disabled people in Wales have been missing out on the freedom, confidence and adventure that comes with being out on the water – an experience that only Wetwheels can truly provide. That’s why we’re launching Wetwheels Cymru, a campaign to raise £300,000 and establish a permanent powerboat and team in Cardiff—bringing truly accessible boating to the nation for the first time.
From 7th–11th April, the Wetwheels South-West boat will visit Bayscape Marina, Cardiff, offering a unique chance to experience the impact of Wetwheels first-hand. But this can’t just be a one-off—we need to make it permanent.
Now is the time to act. Join us, spread the word, and help bring Wetwheels Cymru to life.
Why Wales? Why Now?
Right now, Wales has no dedicated Wetwheels boat. This means thousands of disabled people across the country are missing out on the transformative benefits of being on the water.
We know the demand is there:
1 in 5 people in Wales live with a disability, yet accessible boating opportunities remain limited.
Many coastal communities face economic hardship, making access to the sea even more vital for wellbeing.
The proven “blue health” benefits of being on or near water help reduce stress, improve mental health and promote inclusion.
A key event will take place on 9th April at CoffiCo, Bayscape Marina, where potential donors, sponsors, media, and community leaders can engage with the project and hear about the vision for Wetwheels Cymru.
How You Can Help?
We need your support to bring Wetwheels Cymru to life. Whether you’re a business, philanthropist, sponsor, or advocate, your contribution will help ensure that disabled people across Wales have access to safe and life-changing maritime experiences for years to come.
