More than a boat...

Wetwheels Yorkshire

Whilst the global pandemic prevented many of Wetwheels Yorkshire's regular activities from taking place during the early part of 2020, it didn't prevent our team of volunteers from 'stepping up' and helping our local community.  In conjunction with Carer's Resource, Wetwheels Yorkshire volunteer crew took on the role of telephone befrienders, and reached out to vulnerable and isolated members of the community.  Each volunteer was paired with someone and kept in regular telephone contact, and even met in person when appropriate.  Here's a BBC TV piece that includes Wetwheels Yorkshire crew, Alistair, with his new 'pal' Stuart.  A moving piece that illustrates that a kind word can go a long way.  Stuart later joined us on board Wetwheels Yorkshire in the summer for a memorable trip from his local port of Scarborough.  Video here https://youtu.be/i-FU4vILobg
